Synopsis
Francesc Eiximenis (Girona, 1330?-Perpinyà, 1409) fou un franciscà amb una extensa formació universitària (Oxford, París, Tolosa), conseller àulic i un prolífic escriptor religiós i moralista. L'any 1383 es traslladà a València, on romangué quasi 25 anys i on escrigué la major part de la seua densa obra. Dedicà als jurats de València denominació dels representants municipals el Regiment de la cosa pública, un complet compendi de doctrines per al bon govern en què Eiximenis, partint de la seua formació teològica i escolàstica, exposa bellament el sistema pactista medieval.
