There are few studies that have sought to accurately and rigorously assess the importance of Spanish business families and companies that spearheaded private initiative in mining and the lead industry throughout the 19th century in the Linares- La Carolina district. One of these was the Figueroa dynasty, whose investment, corporate and business activities extended to sectors that were dynamic and innovative at the time, such as gas, electricity, aluminium rolling and railways. This book examines this family group, its social, economic and political relevance, and its influence, involvement and patronage in promoting the development, progress and modernisation of this mining district. An original and innovative study due to its literary structure, highly interesting and well-researched, which delves into the mining, industrial, heritage, educational, cultural, architectural and toponymic legacy of the Figueroa family, which can still be seen today in Linares and La Carolina.
